The 29th Symposium of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society will take place on September 15, 2023.

The Symposium is open to individuals from all sectors to discuss/present topics related to Geotechnical Engineering in Infrastructure.

The Symposium program will consist of the following (details provided here):

Two Keynote lectures, namely, presentations from:
- Dr. Thaleia Travasarou (Vice President, Regional Technical Director - Land Site Characterization at Fugro) on “Geotechnical Best Practices for Risk-Informed Decision Making in Earthquake Infrastructure Design”.
- Dr. Brian L.J. Mylleville (Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc) on "the “Repair of the Sumas River Dike Breach: A Case History”.
Technical sessions including presentation of 8 papers.
Geotechnical suppliers trade show exhibition.
Continental breakfast, lunch, and two coffee breaks provided.

Symposium registration is now online at the link below. Your receipt will be sent to your registered email address two days before the Symposium. Registration is $225 before August 7, $275 thereafter, and $325 day-of. The student registration fee is $75.

The VGS has reserved a room block (offering discounted rates) at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront that are available for Symposium attendees to purchase. Reservations can be made by individual attendees directly with the hotel by calling 1-844-337-3118 or 604-689-9211. Room rates are as follows:

Single/Double: $319/night
Triple: $349/night
Quad: $379/night

Hotel room rates will be offered 3 days prior and 3 days following the event and are subject to the applicable taxes and fees in effect at the time of check-out.

PLEASE NOTE: Reservations must be made on or before August 15, 2023 in order to utilize the group rates. Reservations made after this date will be based on a space and rate-available basis.
