32nd Symposium of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society

Topic: Advances in Soil Mechanics

The 32nd Symposium of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society, focusing on the topic of “Soil Mechanics,” will take place on Friday, June 05, 2026, at the Paradox Hotel Vancouver (1161 W Georgia St., Vancouver).

Abstracts are called for papers that explore innovative design approaches, practical solutions, challenges in analysis and construction, and the latest advancements in the field of soil mechanics. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

• Advanced Laboratory and In-Situ Testing Methods

• Constitutive Modeling and Numerical Analysis

• Ground Improvement and Soil Modification Techniques

• Soil-Structure Interaction and Performance-Based Design

• Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and Soil Dynamics

• Practical Challenges and Case Histories in Soil Mechanics

• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications in soil mechanics

We also invite submissions concerning any engineering activity of particular interest in the Lower Mainland. Abstracts should be less than 500 words and sent to the Symposium Co-Chairs by February 02, 2026.

The symposium is expected to consist of the following events:

  1. One or two keynote presentations by invited speakers.

  2. Technical sessions featuring 6 to 10 papers.

  3. Geotechnical suppliers’ trade show exhibition.

  4. Continental breakfast, lunch, and two coffee breaks.

  5. Optional reception open to all attendees.
